The African Peace and Security Council discusses a new operation in Somalia

 Today, Saturday, the African Union Peace and Security Council is expected to discuss a new operation in Somalia after the end of the African Union Transitional Mission in Somalia.

The meeting to discuss this issue was scheduled to be held on July 25, but was postponed to seek financial support for the operation called “The African Union Operation to Restore and Support Somalia.”

The Council will hear reports from the Special Representative of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission in Somalia and the Head of the Union Mission, Ambassador Mohamed El Amin Soueif. It is expected that 11,911 people will participate in the new operation, including 85 civilians, 11,146 military personnel, and 680 policemen.
