The Arab Union for Voluntary Work conference is about to start in Cairo

 September 14, 2024, activities of the Arab Union for Volunteer Work conference in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, which came this year under the slogan “The Role of the Media in Developing Volunteerism” to celebrate the Arab Volunteer Day, which falls on September 15 of each year, with the participation of 19 Arab countries.

With the follow-up of Dr. Hisham Salah El-Din Al-Raida, Vice President of the Arab Union for Voluntary Work in Cairo, on a daily basis, preparing housing and transportation, in addition to the general arrangement for the celebration, while working permanently for visits during the conference.

The Arab Union for Volunteer Work was established on December 3, 2003, which celebrates International Volunteer Day on December 5 of each year, and the Union’s headquarters are in Doha. The idea was launched when the Union sent to the League of Arab States an invitation request for those interested in volunteer work. The General Secretariat responded and sent a circular to the member states, and several Arab countries responded positively, with 16 countries participating in the founding.

The President of the Arab Union for Voluntary Work, Dr. Yousef bin Ali Al-Kazem, confirms that the Union, which was established 21 years ago, is a purely Qatari initiative, and includes 19 countries, and one of the most important volunteer achievements of the Union was in confronting the Corona pandemic through many large activities that expressed their firm belief in work. Volunteering and its goals.

This is on the one hand, and on the other hand, the success of the Union has prompted many volunteer bodies in Arab countries to request joining it, and it is keen to attract these bodies to occupy a leadership position in leading Arab volunteer work. It will also be a symposium for media professionals and their role in spreading the culture of volunteer work in the Arab world and highlighting the role of volunteering at the continental and international levels.

Starting from the launch of the conference, with the participation of 19 Arab countries, field work papers on volunteer work will be discussed, volunteer leadership figures will be honored, international and Arab agreements will be signed, and various visits will be made to learn about volunteer experiences in the Arab Republic of Egypt.
