Football legend Lionel Messi sent a message of support and encouragement to the Argentine U-20 national team players after their loss to Morocco in the final of the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile.
In a post on his Instagram account, Messi urged his country's players to keep their "heads up," stressing that they "had a fantastic tournament."
"Keep your heads up, guys," said the Inter Miami star. "You've had a fantastic tournament, and while we all want to see you lift the trophy, we'll always cherish the joy of what you've given us and the pride of seeing you defend your country with all your hearts."
Messi did not mention the Moroccan national team or congratulate it on the victory.
The Atlas Cubs won the FIFA U-20 World Cup after a well-deserved 2-0 victory over Argentina in a match held in Santiago, Chile.
Yasser Al-Zubairi , a player for the Portuguese club Famalicao, scored both goals in the first half, bringing his tally to five goals in the tournament.
This world title is the first for the Moroccan national team, and also the first achievement in the history of Arab participation in the various football tournaments organized by the International Federation of Association Football ( FIFA ).
With this victory, Morocco became the first Arab country to win the FIFA U-20 World Cup, and the second African country after Ghana won the title in 2009
