China donates $2 million to combat the effects of drought in Somalia
The Chairman of Somalia’s National Disaster Management Authority (SoDMA), Mr. Mahmoud Moalim Abdullahi, officially received a $2 million donation and food aid from the Chinese Ambassador to Somalia, Wang Yu. The donation is intended to support those affected by the ongoing drought in the country.Ambassador Wang Yu stated that the Chinese government will continue to support the Somali people, particularly in drought relief efforts and disaster prevention. He also emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation between the two countries, especially in the areas of humanitarian aid and community development.
For his part, the head of Somalia's Disaster Management Authority, Mr. Mahmoud Moalim Abdullahi, expressed his gratitude to the government and people of China for their continued support to Somalia. He explained that this aid will be used to support residents in 72 districts across the country affected by the drought, including 45 districts experiencing a humanitarian emergency. He also emphasized that this support will significantly contribute to saving the lives of those affected by the drought, especially children, women, and the most vulnerable families.
