Finance Minister: Somalia is making financial progress and receiving international praise at Washington meetings
The Minister of Finance of the Federal Government of Somalia, His Excellency Bihi Iman Ege, announced the conclusion of the Spring Meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund in Washington, D.C., affirming that the meetings yielded positive results that bolster Somalia's economic reform efforts.The Minister explained that the meetings featured fruitful discussions with international partners and leaders of financial institutions, during which progress in financial management, increasing domestic revenues, enhancing transparency and combating corruption, and developing social services were reviewed.
He noted that international partners praised the Somali experience, considering Somalia a leading model for developing countries in reform and cooperation with international financial institutions.
He added that he held bilateral meetings with representatives from the United States, the United Kingdom, Norway, and Saudi Arabia, as well as with leaders from the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, and the African Development Bank, where discussions focused on expanding cooperation and accelerating the implementation of development plans in Somalia.
