The Minister of Information discusses with directors of independent media outlets ways to develop the media sector.

 The Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism of the Federal Government of Somalia, Mr. Abdifatah Qasim Mahmoud, met today with directors and heads of independent media outlets operating in the capital, Mogadishu, to strengthen cooperation and coordination between the Ministry and private media institutions.

During the meeting, the Minister listened to the views and proposals of the independent media officials regarding the development of the media sector, enhancing its role in raising public awareness, consolidating peace, and contributing to nation-building efforts.

The Minister emphasized the importance of the partnership between the Ministry of Information and independent media outlets, noting the pivotal role played by private media institutions in disseminating accurate information, strengthening social cohesion, and supporting the country's development.

For their part, the directors of the independent media outlets outlined the most significant challenges facing the sector, along with the opportunities available for developing media work. They stressed the importance of continued coordination and cooperation with the Ministry to contribute to the advancement of Somali media. The meeting concluded with an agreement to continue consultations and intensify joint cooperation to support the development of the media sector in the country.
