The President of the Republic reveals the collusion of security officers with terrorists

The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud, revealed in a speech he delivered on the occasion of the 79th anniversary of the founding of the Somali police that some security officials were colluding with terrorists and facilitating the passage of explosives to the capital, Mogadishu.

The President indicated that a car carrying explosives cannot cross a number of security checkpoints without the complicity of some security officers. He revealed ongoing investigations with some officials accused of ordering the passage of some cars that were later used in bombings, pointing out that large sums of money were found in their bank accounts, which supports that they took money in exchange for the facilities they provided to terrorists.

The President of the Republic urged the Somali police to maintain law and order, serve the people, and fight corruption and drugs that pose a challenge to national security. The President called on the police leadership to prevent police officers from using drugs, which he said prevented them from performing their duties, and not to allow drug addicts to join the police force.
