 Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud expressed his country's aspiration to defeat the terrorists and fully take over security tasks from the African Transitional Peacekeeping Forces "ATMIS" in 2024. Sheikh Mahmoud said in a speech on the occasion of the new year that his country looks forward in 2024 to defeating the terrorists and taking over Fully security tasks of transitional peacekeepers.

He added, "The Somali government will strengthen military operations against Al-Shabaab in cooperation with armed clans in the new year in order to liberate the country from terrorists." And he continued, "The government will work, in addition to the liberation operations, to rehabilitate the army and enhance its capabilities to take over security from the African forces (ATMIS) in December 2024."

On the economic front, the Somali president stressed that his regime "will reshape the economic structure in the country in order to move from the stage of the unorganized economy to the organized economy so that merchants can deal with the economies of the world."

He explained that Somalia is in the process of completing debt relief programs for the country, expressing hope that the program will be completed in the middle of this year. He also expressed his country's aspiration to join economic blocs in the region and the world, including the East African Community.

He also stressed the importance of conducting internal reconciliation, socially and politically, "in order to spread good governance and resolve all complexes that may pose a threat to the state system." In addition, Sheikh Mahmoud ordered the Somali forces returning from Eritrea to prepare to fight in the framework of the war on terrorism.

The Somali presidency said in a statement, “President Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud, who inspected (on Monday) the camp of General Jordan in Mogadishu, directed the armed forces that had received training in Eritrea, to prepare for the war to liberate the country from terrorism.

"The president, who received an honorable salutation from special units of the armed force, shared the hope of the government and people of Somalia to complete the last struggle to eradicate terrorists from the country," the statement added.

Sheikh Mahmoud said, "The Somali people and I are happy with your return. From today on, we are preparing and moving to confront the enemy. We want the new operations to liberate the rest of the regions to be faster than the previous ones, and to be completed in a short period of time."
