The Kenyan Defense Minister arrives in Mogadishu.
A delegation from the Kenyan government led by Defense Minister Adam Barre Duale arrived in the Somali capital, Mogadishu, on Wednesday. Duali and his companions were welcomed at Adam Adi International Airport in Mogadishu by his Somali counterpart, Abdul Qadir Mohamed Nour, and ministers and representatives of the People’s and Senate Houses of the Somali Federal Parliament.
During his stay in Mogadishu, the Kenyan minister is expected to discuss with Somali officials the acceleration of combat operations to eliminate the Al-Shabaab movement, which poses a threat to Somalia and neighboring countries, including Kenya.
It is worth noting that Kenya is one of the countries contributing troops to the African Union Transitional Mission in Somalia, “Atmis,” and its forces maintain bases in the regional state of Jubbaland.
