The military court in Somalia sentenced the director of the police station in the “Halwa” district of Mogadishu and his deputy to death.

 The military court in Somalia sentenced Abdel Fattah Mohamed Hassan, “Qaslay”, the director of the police station in the “Halwa” district of Mogadishu, and his deputy, Mohamed Abdi Mohamed “Goni”, to death for the kidnapping and murder of the merchant, Abu Bakar Ahmed Kabih, on February 24, 2024. The court convicted both individuals of arranging Kabib killed in Mogadishu.

The court sentenced Liban Muhammad Omar and Hassan Muhammad Saeed to 15 years in prison, and also sentenced Muhammad Adawi Ali and Yassin Abdi Jama to 10 years in prison for their roles in the conspiracy.

In addition, the court stripped the director of the police station, Qaslai, and his deputy, Mohamed Abdi Goni, of their military ranks, expelled them from the Somali police force, and acquitted Mohamed Hassan Othman, because no evidence was found of his involvement in the crime, stressing that those convicted have the right to appeal within 30 days.
