The Organization of Islamic Cooperation stresses the importance of providing material support to the Somali government
The foreign ministers of the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation held a preparatory meeting for the fifteenth session of the summit conference of the organization in the Gambian capital, Banjul, from May 2 to 3, 2024.According to the statement issued by the meeting, the ministers stressed the importance of providing material and technical support to strengthen Somali government institutions and confront the challenges imposed by drought on food security in Somalia.
The ministers indicated their rejection of any actions that violate the sovereignty of Somalia, especially the memorandum of understanding signed between Ethiopia and the Somaliland administration.
The fifteenth annual Islamic Summit Conference of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation is expected to discuss various issues and challenges facing the Islamic world, especially the issue of Palestine and the current situation in the Gaza Strip.
