UAE donates 700 tons of food aid to Somalia amid drought crisis

The United Arab Emirates has provided 700 tons of food supplies to the Somali government, as part of its support for Somalia during the drought crisis it is suffering from. The aid was delivered during a ceremony held in Mogadishu on Wednesday, in the presence of the UAE Ambassador Ahmed Juma Al Rumaithi, and the Commissioner of the Somali Disaster Management Agency, Mr. Mahmoud Moalim Abdullahi.

During the ceremony, Mr. Mahmoud Moalim Abdullah expressed his deep gratitude and appreciation to the UAE government for this assistance, praising the bilateral relations between the two countries and the close cooperation in the humanitarian, security and development fields.

Thousands of Somali families are expected to benefit from this assistance, especially those suffering from the repercussions of the ongoing drought, which has severely damaged agriculture, water supplies and livelihoods.
