The head of the Somali Disaster Management Agency met with the Iraqi Minister of Environment


Somalia and Iraq enhance cooperation in the field of disaster management

 The head of the Somali Disaster Management Agency, Mahmoud Maalim Abdali, met with the Iraqi Minister of Environment, Dr. Hello Mustafa Al-Askari, in Kuwait City on the sidelines of the Sixth Arab Regional Forum for Disaster Risk Reduction.

The two officials discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations between the Somali federal government and the Iraqi government, in addition to cooperation in the field of disaster risk reduction. The exchange of experiences and strategies necessary to confront natural and human disasters was also discussed.

The two parties stressed the importance of close cooperation in the field of disaster prevention and capacity building, and agreed on the need to make joint efforts in exchanging knowledge, experience, research and modern technologies related to disaster management.
