The Auditor General of Somalia accuses the judiciary of not cooperating amid a growing dispute with the Banadir Regional Court

The Office of the Auditor General of Somalia responded to allegations made by the Banadir District Court, which accused Auditor General Ahmed Issa Gotale of obstructing the court’s decisions. In a press release, the Office of the Auditor General rejected the allegations and confirmed that the judiciary is among the government institutions subject to annual compliance audits.

The statement also alleged that the courts failed to respond to official requests for information and did not cooperate with mandatory legal compliance reviews, unlike other government agencies.

The escalating tensions between the two institutions come shortly after the Banadir District Court summoned the Auditor General on criminal charges. This situation highlights the growing institutional discord between Somalia's judiciary and the Auditor General's Office, raising concerns about accountability and the rule of law within government structures.
