Somalia's Minister of Internal Security holds a meeting with the Chinese Ambassador
Somali Minister of Internal Security, Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail Fartag, held a closed-door meeting yesterday with Wang Yu, the Chinese Ambassador to the Federal Government of Somalia. Ambassador Wang Yu affirmed that China is contributing to improved security in Somalia, particularly through assistance in preventing landmine explosions, which have occurred at certain times.Discussions between the two sides focused on security cooperation between their countries, including China's support for Somalia, especially in the areas of building and strengthening security forces and combating al-Shabaab and the Islamic State (ISIS).
Minister Fartag expressed his appreciation to the Chinese government for its support of Somali security institutions, noting that this cooperation will contribute to maintaining the country's stability and security. China has long been a strategic partner of Somalia, supporting infrastructure and development projects and security initiatives within the broader framework of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
